Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Solutions Architect to design HR Technology domain architecture, aligning with enterprise standards. You will lead architecture decisions, work across business and tech teams, and guide modern cloud-based solutions within a complex HR ecosystem.

You will evaluate new technologies, drive proofs-of-concepts, and advocate for cost-efficient, scalable designs while mentoring the architectural team.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' hands-on experience with software design and development.
• 8+ years' SME level skills in application, data, integration, and security architecture.
• 4+ years' experience in enterprise architecture and system design (planning, delivering & supporting solutions).
• 4+ years' experience with Public Cloud (GCP preferred; open to AWS or Azure).
• 4+ years' experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases and cloud databases.
• 2+ years' experience with SaaS/PaaS platforms (e.g., Workday, Oracle Cloud, Workday, MuleSoft, Boomi, OIC).
• 2+ years' experience working with Kafka or similar middleware.
• 2+ years' experience with security frameworks and SSO, OAuth/SAML/OIDC.
• 2+ years' experience with microservices architecture & APIs.
• 2+ years' experience with container platforms and deployment patterns.
• 1+ year experience with observability and implementation techniques.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end design of HR technology solutions from cradle to grave with technical leadership.
• Perform Buy vs Build analyses based on qualitative/quantitative options.
• Lead architecture reviews and identify gaps, recommending changes.
• Identify apps optimization needs and architect application profiles.
• Lead proofs-of-concepts and technology deep-dives for partner tech.
• Advise teams to clear technical roadblocks and improve performance.
• Suggest opportunities to reduce costs and eliminate technical debt.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define architectural vision and roadmap.

Position Summary

The Lead Solutions Architect will design and develop HR Technology domain architecture (integrated process, applications, data and technology) solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards.

Responsibilities Include:

• Performing technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications.
• Developing specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings.
• Assessing the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies.

What you will do:

• End to End Solution : Accountability and oversight for designing & building solutions for HR Technology from cradle to grave by providing leadership and oversight to tech leads who are intimately familiar with the application.
• Buy vs Build Analysis : Able to perform Buy vs Build analysis based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis across the available options to provide a final recommendation based on the rationale.
• Architecture and design reviews : Play a key role in architecture design reviews and identify gaps and recommend design changes.
• Application profile identification : Leverage significant technical expertise and domain knowledge to identify apps optimization needs.
• Proof of concept technology support : Lead and drive proofs-of-concepts and technology deep-dives specific to partner technologies.
• “Whatever it takes” attitude to help clear technical roadblocks: Advise and assist Application development teams with technical roadblocks such as performance challenges within a solution.
• Recommend or assess opportunities to drive cost efficiencies aimed at simplicity, configurability and eventual elimination of technical debt associated with applications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define the architectural vision, strategy, and roadmap for the organization.
• Engage with business users, technology teams, and leadership to understand their needs, gathering requirements to ensure alignment between architectural solutions and business objectives.
• Participate in architecture reviews, provide recommendations, and oversee the implementation of governance frameworks.
• Evaluate emerging products & technologies , tools, and frameworks to support domain architectural decisions and provide recommendations for technology adoption.
• Encourage knowledge sharing , identify opportunities for enhancing architectural processes and methodologies, and support professional development initiatives for the architectural team.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years' hands-on experience with Software design and development
• 8+ years' SME level technical skills in application, data, integration, and security architecture design
• 4+ years' experience with Enterprise architecture and system design (including executing, planning, delivering & supporting solutions)
• 4+ years' experience with Public Cloud (prefer GCP; open to AWS or Azure)
• 4+ years' experience with both SQL and NoSQL database technologies as well as Cloud database technologies
• 2+ years' experience with SaaS/PaaS Platforms, e.g. Workday, Oracle Cloud, WorkBrain, UKG, MuleSoft, Boomi, OIC etc.
• 2+ years' experience working with technologies that work as glue between modern applications and legacy platforms e.g. Kafka
• 2+ years' experience with Security framework and SSO, OAuth/SAML/OIDC-based authentication
• 2+ years' experience working with Micro services Architecture & APIs
• 2+ years' experience working with Container Platform and deployment patterns
• 1+ year experience with observability and implementation techniques

Preferred Qualifications

• GCP Architect cloud certification
• SaaS Product certification
• Design & Building Apps with AI capabilities integrating to LLM’s
• Understanding of AI Apps implementation patterns and Agentic AI frameworks
• Experience or exposure to process automation tools and technologies
• Collaboration, teamwork and growth mindset (agility and developing yourself and others)

Education

• Bachelor's degree required
• Specialized training/relevant professional certifications preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $284,280.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
