Job summary

Pearce Services is seeking a Lead Solar Field Service Technician for utility-scale PV repair and maintenance. You will troubleshoot, repair, and lead a small field crew across megawatt-scale solar farms, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time execution.

This is a 100% travel role requiring hands-on leadership and strong electrical skills, with opportunities to mentor junior technicians and advance within a growing solar services organization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of utility-scale solar experience.
• Experience leading crews or as lead tech on-site.
• Experience on megawatt-scale PV systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Experience with solar O&M.
• Knowledge of OSHA/NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Experience using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, testing equipment.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).

Your Impact

As a Lead Solar Field Service Technician (Utility‑Scale / PV Repair), you’ll work on large, utility‑scale solar farms—not residential or rooftop systems. You’ll handle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of ground‑mount solar systems, central/string inverters, and power plant equipment, while leading a small field crew (4+ techs). You’re responsible for making sure work is done safely, correctly, and on schedule. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone with real experience on utility‑scale solar sites (megawatt‑scale projects). This is a 100% travel position.

Core Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair utility‑scale solar systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, and string circuits
• Perform testing: LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, IR scans
• Lead and direct 2+ field technicians on active solar farm sites
• Assign work, track progress, and keep jobs on schedule
• Perform operations and maintenance (O&M) on utility‑scale solar plants
• Inspect completed work and ensure it meets quality and safety standards
• Enforce safety requirements (OSHA, NFPA 70E) on‑site
• Diagnose system issues and resolve them in the field
• Complete work orders, service logs, and required documentation
• Operate and maintain company vehicle and tools
• Train and support junior technicians in the field

Core Experience (Utility‑Scale Required)

• 3+ years of utility‑scale solar experience (solar farms / ground‑mount systems)
• Experience leading crews or acting as lead tech on‑site
• Experience working on megawatt‑scale PV systems (NOT residential rooftop solar)
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills (inverters, DC systems, power electronics)
• Experience with solar O&M / maintenance work
• Working knowledge of OSHA / NFPA 70E safety standards
• Experience using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and testing equipment
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)

Physical / Work Environment

• Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
• 100% travel role (frequent travel to solar farm sites)
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, dust)
• Must follow all OSHA and company safety requirements

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location. In addition to wages, employees may also be eligible for performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem or other applicable compensation.

Base Pay Range: $29 USD - $40 USD
