Job summary

JPMorganChase in Houston seeks a Lead Software Engineer within the Equities Sales & Trading Technology Team. You will be a core technical contributor, building trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, scalable way and delivering across multiple business functions.

You will design and develop high-performance, low-latency systems, lead architecture discussions with vendors and teams, promote modern engineering practices, and help foster a diverse, inclusive team culture.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Experience in designing and implementing distributed systems.
• Experienced in design and development of high performance and low latency systems.
• Proficient in UI/UX principles and modern web development practices.
• Hands-on coding in C#/WPF or TypeScript/JavaScript/React.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
• Develops high performance, low latency order management systems and GUIs to support global trading desks and flows, like Cash, Delta1 and ETF RFQ.
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

• Experience in designing and implementing distributed systems

• Demonstrated experience with UI/UX principles
• Hands-on experience with Web Development & Services
• Advanced knowledge of architecture and design
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Familiarity with Testing, Automation, CI/CD Pipeline
• Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
