Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an engineer for the Review Tooling team focused on building systems used by safety investigators to examine potential harms and enforce actions across internal and third‑party surfaces. You’ll own the tools and platform beneath them, including analytics, privacy‑preserving primitives, and a sandbox for rapid iteration.

This foundational role drives automation to scale review, extending Claude‑assisted workflows while keeping human judgment in the loop

Qualifications

• Technical background in full‑stack or platform engineering.
• Experience shipping internal tools or platforms for demanding users.
• Experience collaborating with non‑engineering teams (operations, policy, legal).
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical tradeoffs to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Care about societal impacts of AI and improving system safety.

Responsibilities

• Build investigation, review, and enforcement tooling for platform surfaces and workflows.
• Develop the platform layer of reusable APIs, data storage, and backend services.
• Scale review through automation and Claude‑assisted workflows.
• Partner with policy, operations, legal, privacy, and data science to reduce handling time and errors.
• Implement guardrails: permissions, audit trails, data access controls, and wellbeing features.
• Instrument tooling with metrics on queue health, throughput, and decision quality.
