Lead Software Engineer (Python, Scala, Spark, AWS)

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to build and pioneer new technology solutions that combine data with emerging technologies. You will lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects, manage a team of developers, and collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud‑based solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
• Develop solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company.
• Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, and participate in internal and external technology communities.
• Mentor other members of the engineering community and occasionally code or evaluate code.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud‑based solutions that drive powerful experiences for millions of Americans.
• Use programming languages such as Python, Scala, Spark, Java, SQL, Node.js, Go, and Java, as well as open‑source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and various AWS services.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply).
• At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree.
• 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, or Spark.
• 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
• 4+ years of experience in open‑source frameworks.
• 2+ years of experience with Agile practices.
• Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity.

Compensation

• Chicago, IL: $179,400 – $204,700
• McLean, VA: $197,300 – $225,100
• Richmond, VA: $179,400 – $204,700

Additional compensation may include performance‑based incentive compensation, cash bonus(s), and/or long‑term incentives.
