Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or Math.
• 5+ years Python/Java applications development experience (Python/Core Java/Advanced Java/Spring/Hibernate/JAXB/REST).
• 5+ years Microservices/AWS cloud development.
• 5+ years relational database development (Oracle) and OOP databases.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and validating AI outputs.

Responsibilities

• Develop secure high-quality production code, review and debug code.
• Drive team adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices and establish validation standards.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you will execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Develop secure high‑quality production code, review and debug code written by others
• Drive team adoption of enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing consistent validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team
• Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI‑assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes‑oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
• Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading‑edge technologies

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and/or Math
• 5+ years Python / Java applications development experience (Python / Core Java / Advanced Java / Spring / Hibernate / JAXB / REST Web Services)
• 5+ years of Microservices / AWS cloud development
• 5+ years of strong relational database development (Oracle) and Object‑Oriented databases
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI‑assisted software development tools and the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
• Knowledge of multi‑threaded programming and memory management
• Knowledge of Unix shell scripting
• Hands‑on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Strong object‑oriented design skills

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

• Experience with Python, Apache Arrow, Pandas, Rust and/or Parquet
• Experience contributing to open source projects
• Agentic AI Development
• Prior experience with JPMC internal Athena tool would be added advantage
