Job summary

Cullerton Group seeks an IT Software Engineer 4 to lead architecture and development in an Emerging Technology team. The role focuses on Generative AI, RAG, and cloud-native solutions, with mentorship and cross‑functional collaboration across product, security, and infrastructure.

The position is hybrid, based in Chicago with 2–3 days onsite, and may consider fully remote candidates with potential onsite changes. A 12-month contract with potential for renewal is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT, or related field with 8+ years of experience, or 10+ years of experience without a degree.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying complex enterprise applications, distributed systems, APIs, platforms, or cloud-native services.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or Go.
• Experience leading SDLC activities across architecture, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of software architecture, system design, API development, and integration patterns.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, cloud platforms, containers, and IaC.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development, integration, and testing of modern software applications and pilots.
• Evaluate emerging technologies like Generative AI, cloud-native services, APIs, and automation.
• Translate business needs into scalable software roadmaps and production-ready solutions.
• Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with product, data science, cybersecurity, UX, and infrastructure teams to ensure reliability.
