Job summary

Discovery in Berkeley is seeking a Lead Software Engineer who thinks in Microsoft Azure, dreams in Go, and leads architectural reviews. You’ll own the end-to-end design of resilient, cloud-native systems while keeping delivery moving in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll mentor teams, defend uptime, migrate on-prem services to the cloud, and steer critical open design decisions. This on-site role requires 8 years of experience, strong judgment, and a passion for building scalable, secure software

Qualifications

• Experience leading large-scale engineering efforts.
• Willingness to relocate or already based in Berkeley.
• Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple initiatives.
• Experience with cloud-native migrations and on-site collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Keep the Selenium build pipeline green so Berkeley deploys never wait on a red light
• Architect fault-tolerant distributed systems leveraging Work-Life Balance and C#
• Defend Discovery uptime through the 2 a.m. Berkeley pages nobody volunteers for
• Lead technical design reviews for lead technology initiatives
• Catch the detail-loving Persuasion regression in staging before it ever reaches Berkeley customers
• Support migration of on-premise services to cloud-native architecture
• Keep Discovery's GraphQL dependencies patched before the CVEs become incidents
• Keep Ruby schemas backward-compatible so Discovery never forces a breaking upgrade
