Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Jersey City, NJ, is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software for Client Onboarding and KYC. You will be a core technical contributor shaping scalable, secure solutions across multiple business functions.

As part of an agile team, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners, implement CI/CD pipelines, apply design patterns, and mentor engineers while advancing AI-assisted development practices.

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Proficiency in Java development with J2EE server technologies (Web Services, Spring, ORM frameworks, XML, EJB, JMS).
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD and build tooling (e.g. Jenkins, TeamCity, Maven).
  • Working knowledge of design patterns, UML, and object-oriented concepts.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Working knowledge of source control management tools (Bitbucket or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of UI technologies including HTML5 and JavaScript.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team and build effective working relationships.
  • Ability to organize work, manage priorities, and deliver to tight deadlines.

  • Communicate development progress, risks, and dependencies to the team and key stakeholders.
  • Apply Agile practices to support iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable builds and deployments.
  • Use sound object-oriented design and common design patterns to create scalable solutions.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Contribute to code quality through reviews, testing practices, and defect resolution.
  • Work with global technologists to share ideas, improve solutions, and drive innovation.
  • Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes while establishing consistent validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns.
  • Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value realized through automation.

Create innovative technology solutions to support the Client Onboarding and KYC business. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
  • Ability to collaborate within a team and build effective working relationships
  • Ability to organize work, manage priorities, and deliver to tight deadlines
