Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own CDN deployment and operation using Akamai and/or Cloudflare. You will design, build, and run production services, driving system design decisions and elevating engineering standards within the Network Services team.

You will mentor engineers, review code, and lead automation initiatives with IaC/GitOps, AI-assisted workflows, and secure SDLC practices to deliver reliable, scalable infrastructure for critical financial services.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Strong system design skills across distributed services, data stores, and messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ).
• Practical experience running services in the cloud, including AWS patterns and services.
• Solid understanding of secure software development lifecycle practices, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through code reviews, technical decision-making, and mentoring within a team.
• Experience leading AI-assisted software development tools with validated outputs and secure practices.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows with data sensitivity considerations.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Network Services team, you will be the SME on deploying and operating applications using CDNs from one or both of Akamai and Cloudflare. You will partner with stakeholders to deliver capabilities that improve performance, reliability, and safety. Job responsibilities

• Share expertise and operational experience in designing and managing CDN applications leveraging Cloudflare and/or Akamai.
• Develop IaC/GitOps-based automation.
• Apply responsible AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong engineering discipline
• Automate network services infrastructure and network provisioning workflows, including API integrations and (where needed) React-based user interface components
• Lead system design efforts and produce clear architecture and design artifacts to support high-quality technical decisions
• Review code, coach engineers, and raise standards across testing, continuous integration/continuous delivery, security, and reliability
• Build and maintain high-quality delivery pipelines with automated tests, meaningful coverage, and pragmatic quality gates
• Partner with internal teams and evaluate external vendors when it accelerates outcomes and aligns to the target architecture
• Contribute to an inclusive team culture that values collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.

• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• 3+ years operational experience of Akamai or Cloudflare CDNs, preferably within a banking/financial enterprise
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform preferred)
• Familiarity with modern front-end development using React
• Experience using AI-assisted coding and design tools in production environments with appropriate security and quality controls
• Experience building in regulated environments and delivering to strong risk and security controls
