Job summary

Audible is seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer to define, design, and refine systems powering audio storytelling. You will drive technical ownership of ad systems and real-time pipelines for billions of opportunities, impacting a global audience of listeners.

You will mentor engineers, lead complex initiatives, and collaborate with Product, Applied Science, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, customer-focused software across platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test software components for a leading global audiobooks provider.
• Collaborate with Product, Applied Science, and cross-functional engineering teams to define and deliver innovative advertising products.
• Optimize ad serving latency, cost, and business metrics for audio advertising at scale.
• Lead an agile engineering team, write scalable and maintainable code, and influence team decisions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to envision, design, develop, test, and launch customer-centric software solutions.
• Deliver high-quality code on schedule and tackle challenging problems with technology.
• Mentor and lead developers, fostering curiosity and deep technical understanding.
• Independently lead complex technical initiatives within the team.
