Job summary

Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA) seeks a Technical Lead Engineer to drive architectural direction and deliver API-based solutions with a cloud-first mindset. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable software.

The role emphasizes Python, AWS, microservices, and data workflows, with opportunities to shape enterprise data platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and modern deployment

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Advanced Python development required.
• Experience with API integrations, testing, and automation.
• Strong object-oriented design and software engineering practices.
• AWS experience with Data Ops ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, API, Kinesis is required.
• Data orchestration tools (Airflow or Astronomer), DAG development, DBT and Snowflake preferred.
• Experience in Financial Services investments or asset management is a plus.
• Experience with event-driven and microservices architectures is preferred.

As Technical Lead Engineer, provides technical skills combined with strong leadership skills to articulate architectural direction and solutions to both product stakeholders and the development team. A full stack engineer with team leadership skills, deep proficiency in general programming languages, frameworks and deployment methodologies who creates API-based applications from concept to finished product with a cloud-first emphasis. Builds and encourages a collaborative environment while promoting architectural standards of the organization.

Principle Duties

• Leads a team of developers; oversees development team quality of work, timelines, and project risks without supervision
• Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Mentor engineers and conduct design and code reviews.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and business stakeholders to deliver strategic technology solutions.
• Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and production support activities.
• Build scalable, event-driven solutions using AWS services and modern architectural patterns.
• Develop and maintain Python-based APIs, integrations, automation, and platform capabilities.
• Analyze requirements, create technical designs, and deliver solutions through Agile methodologies.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Computer Science or equivalent experience required
• Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) preferred

Work Experience

• 8+ Years software development experience required

Skills & Abilities

• Advanced Python development required
• API and integrations, testing and automation, object-oriented design and software engineering best practices required
• AWS Experience with Data Ops ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, API, Kinesis required
• Data & Orchestration AWS Airflow or Astronomer, DAG Development, DBT and Snowflake required
• Institutional Investments, Asset Management, or Financial Services experience. Preferred

Compensation Range

$107,060.00 - $159,390.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
