Job summary

Eliassen Group seeks a Lead Software Engineer for a hybrid role in Los Angeles, CA, with remote option until the West LA office opens and then 3x weekly onsite. You will lead API and microservice design for BaaS onboarding and partner integration, guiding security, performance, and reliability across platforms.

You will mentor teams, drive CI/CD and observability practices, and establish architectural direction for the BaaS platform while ensuring compliance with financial services standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
• Strong portfolio showing secure, standards-compliant code across platforms.
• Fluency with C#, .NET, SQL, Azure native services, containers, and caching frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of RESTful API design, OAuth2, and OpenAPI specifications.
• Experience with event-driven microservices (Service Bus, Event Hubs) and observability (Datadog, Grafana).
• Proficient in Git, DevOps, Agile Scrum, and security best practices in financial services.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineering teams on requirements.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, mentoring, and CI/CD best practices.

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Software Engineer to join their BaaS team, supporting partner onboarding and BaaS platform enhancement initiatives. This role will be instrumental in building and supporting scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that enable embedded financial services across our partner ecosystem.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of APIs and microservices that support BaaS onboarding and partner integration.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineering teams to define technical requirements and deliver robust solutions.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, mentoring, and best practices in CI/CD, testing, and observability.
• Ensure compliance with SLA standards and contribute to the development of monitoring and alerting systems.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis to improve system reliability.
• Drive architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy for the BaaS platform, including generating documentation around architectural and design options analysis and decisions.
• Champion emerging technologies evaluation and adoption.
• Refactor and extend the existing codebase to fix defects and add features and functionality.
• Create systems that are durable and flexible by developing for change and favoring configurability over customization.

Experience Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating secure and standards-compliant code across multiple platforms.
• Fluency with several of the following: C#, .NET, SQL, Azure native services (APIM, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Key Vault), containers, and caching frameworks.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, OAuth2, and OpenAPI specifications.
• Familiarity with event-driven and microservice architecture patterns (Service Bus, Event Hubs).
• Hands-on experience implementing observability dashboards and platforms (Datadog, Grafana).
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment delivering iterative project turnarounds for mission and revenue critical, customer-facing applications.
• Deep knowledge of Git, DevOps, Agile Scrum, and security best practices in financial services and compliance standards (PCI DSS, SOC 2).
• Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and to meet the stated location requirement.
