Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle is seeking a deeply technical Software Development Manager (SDM) to lead a team of SDEs building distributed systems that span AWS regions with a focus on consistency, availability, and low-latency replication.

You will own the people and technical direction, partner with Principal Engineers, Product Managers, and cross-team stakeholders to drive design reviews and ensure production readiness for high-scale services.

Qualifications

• 1+ years leading an engineering team
• 7+ years of engineering experience
• 3+ years as Software Engineer or related role
• 1+ years of technical leadership across SDLC
• 1+ years developing large-scale distributed systems in Java, C#, or C++
• 1+ years of distributed SOA-based systems experience

Responsibilities

• Own people and technical direction for the team
• Define customer experience with PMs and senior staff across DynamoDB
• Drive operational excellence for mission-critical services with high request volumes
• Hire, mentor, and grow engineers
• Make pragmatic tradeoffs between delivery velocity and reliability
