Job summary

UHS Sleep and Neurodiagnostic Center in Binghamton, NY seeks a Lead Sleep Tech to perform polysomnographic diagnostic testing with expert knowledge of anatomy and sleep-wake pathology. Strong communication ensures patient education, safety and comfort while coordinating with physicians.

Must have the ability to integrate a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology with sleep/wake pathology. Excellent communication skills are required for ensuring patient education, safety and comfort as well as for discussing patient and clinical situations with physicians. Attention to detail is critical since the quality of data from the polysomnogram is solely the responsibility of the technologist. The individual must be able to maintain vigilance in a non-stimulating environment. Must be able to assimilate data from several sources and anticipate initiation of care, in accordance with protocols to prevent harm to the patient. Must know when to consult the physician regarding the patient’s care.
