General Summary: Coordinates and oversees activities related to maintaining and repairing the physical systems of campus buildings and facilities. Plans major campus projects and coordinates the work of one or more individuals. Has knowledge of one or more skilled trades such as painting, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and carpentry.

Job Specifications

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and completion of vocational school certification or an apprenticeship program as required by applicable trade; maintains such certification/licensure as required by applicable trade; it is a requirement of this position to comply with all safety practices and annual training.

Certifications/Licensures:

• Electrician: Licensed in the City of Pittsburgh
• Plumbing: Allegheny County Plumbing License; ASSE backflow tester license
• HVAC: Stationary Engineer License, or Building Operations Certificate - Level 1, or HVAC degree required
• Carpentry/Painting: Apprenticeship/Vo Tech training program
• Landscaper/Grounds: Pesticide Applicator License in addition to other certifications/licensures
• ALL: A valid driver's license required

Skills/Abilities Requirements: Read, understand and apply blueprints, drawings and schematics; operate a variety of complex equipment; travel to campus locations within the CCAC system; operate basic office equipment and software; maintain regular and timely attendance.

Physical Requirements: Daily exposure to dirt, grease and electrical wires; ability to climb; lift/move heavy materials up to 50 lbs; work in varying weather conditions.

Job Duties:

• Provide quality customer service to internal and external customers
• Perform skilled-maintenance duties: cut grass, prune/plant trees and shrubs
• Asphalt driveways, cement walkways, repair fences, remove snow, and pick up trash
• Repair metal/wood furniture, replace/straighten parts, refinish wood, and replace hinges and locks
• Perform or assist in Sr. Skilled maintenance duties: electricity, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, landscaping as described below

Electricity: Plans, installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on electrical and related equipment.

Plumbing: Plans, installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on building plumbing systems; steam system experience preferred.

HVAC: Troubleshoots and repairs, installs, and performs preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment; Stationary Engineer license preferred.

Carpentry: Installs wood structures, cabinets, shelving, fittings; interacts with customers and other professionals; follows specifications and codes.

Painting: Prepares surfaces, applies paint and finishes, and performs related tasks as needed.

Landscaper/Grounds: Mows, edges, fertilizes, trims, plants, applies pesticides/herbicides, and performs snow removal as needed.

Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances required if offered the position. Includes Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and FBI background check. Instructions to obtain clearances are provided by the College.
