Job summary

Woolpert in Columbia, SC is seeking a Site Civil Engineer (PE) to join our Land Development team. The role focuses on plan production, design calculations, mentoring staff, and delivering site layouts, utilities, stormwater, and erosion control for diverse projects.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, a PE license, and 7+ years of related experience, with proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD. Some travel may be required and Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum 7 years related experience in site/civil land development.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with hydrology/hydraulics is preferred.
  • Strong client service, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce site layout plans per client specs and Woolpert standards.
  • Develop concept and grading plans using Civil 3D.
  • Lead site/civil design, hydrology/hydraulics, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management.
  • Coordinate permitting with counties and municipalities; local experience a plus.
  • Multi-task, prioritize, and deliver tasks on schedule.
  • Travel as needed and support project teams.

Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Site Civil Engineer (PE) to join our dynamic Land Development Engineering team. This position reports to the Engineering Team Leader and is responsible for plan production, performing and reviewing design calculations, mentoring and training junior staff members, and assisting project teams with a variety of site/civil land development engineering projects. The Site Civil Engineer will work alongside teams to deliver flawlessly executed designs of site layouts, utilities, sanitary and storm sewer, grading and earthwork, erosion control, stormwater management systems and stormwater pollution prevention plans. What You Will Do
  • Design and create site layout plans in alignment with client requirements and Woolpert standards.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop concept plans, grading plans, and site designs.
  • Provide technical support and lead site/civil design, hydrology/hydraulics, erosion and sedimentation control, and stormwater management
  • Coordinate permitting with County and local municipalities. Experience with local municipalities is a plus.
  • Multi-task, appropriately prioritize workflow and complete tasks.
  • Work with project management team to identify impediments and develop / implement solutions to overcome obstacles.
  • Perform pavement assessments and compiling data and reports
  • Occasional field work, frequent local travel, and overnight travel as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Autodesk Vehicle Tracking and Storm and Sanitary Analysis software packages, PondPack, and Microsoft Suite products
  • Experience in Hydraulics and Hydrology preferred.
  • Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to provide excellent client service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; offer constructive feedback and direction to support goals

Base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Pay Range

$101,200 - $126,500 USD
