Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer – Server Hardware Validation to join OCI Hardware Engineering on-site in Burlington, MA. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• MS/PhD or 11+ years of experience without a degree may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Strong systems-level electrical/hardware background with validation and troubleshooting of server hardware.
• Proven ability to lead complex hardware validation and qualification efforts.
• Hands-on proficiency with high-speed lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, probes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers).
• Strong knowledge of signal integrity concepts including timing, jitter, and noise.
• Ability to debug complex issues using schematics, measurements, and data analysis.
• Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills across multiple hardware domains.
• Ability to collaborate across hardware, firmware, software, diagnostics, field service, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead system- and subsystem-level electrical validation for server hardware across NPI and sustaining engineering.
• Develop validation strategies, test plans, coverage, procedures, and reports for complex hardware changes.
• Perform hands-on hardware troubleshooting, fault isolation, and RCCA for board-, subsystem-, server-, factory-, field-, and customer-level failures.
• Collaborate with firmware, software, OS, diagnostics, field service, manufacturing, and other teams to isolate issues and determine root cause.
• Drive corrective actions from investigation through implementation and validation.
• Lead qualification of alternate-source components and AVL/end-of-life activities to maintain manufacturing continuity.
• Analyze hardware changes to determine appropriate validation coverage across subsystems and configurations.
• Use high-speed instruments to characterize electrical behavior and validate interfaces.
• Investigate signal integrity, power integrity, timing, noise, and interoperability issues.
• Partner with design, CAD, suppliers, and manufacturing on validation and issues.
• Review schematics and PCB layouts as part of investigations.
• Document specifications, validation plans, test results, and engineering decisions.
• Contribute to design reviews and provide validation-driven feedback.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
