Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer in the United States to lead projects and collaborate with federal and public sector clients. You will guide feasibility studies, design sediment remediation solutions, and manage project teams to deliver defensible, compliant results.

Ideal candidates bring strong experience in CERCLA/regulatory processes, capability to communicate complex analyses to varied stakeholders, and a drive to advance remediation technology

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 7+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise evaluating the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and prepare sediment remediation designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and/or port site settings involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Understand the scientific and engineering principles of sediment and contaminant transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design, and/or remedial action construction.
  • Provide support of mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
  • Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on various components of complicated sediments sites, communicating technical strategy to the client and coordinating with subject matter experts.
  • Possess in-depth expertise in CERCLA, GLLA, and other regulatory steps/processes at contaminated sediment sites.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with clients, the general public, and outside consultants, including communicating complex evaluations to non-subject matter experts.
  • Lead staff in preparing/reviewing technical information to ensure documents are technically sound and compliant.
