Job summary

Anduril – Rocket Motor Systems in Huntsville seeks a Lead Scientist to advance solid rocket motor development for defense and space applications. The ideal candidate has extensive energetic materials experience and leadership in propellant formulation.

You will run production rocket motor contracts as program propellant chemist, lead internal R&D as PI, guide explosives chemistry, manage data for compliance, and push innovative techniques to improve performance.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 2 years experience; or Master's with 4 years; or Bachelor's with 6 years.
• Minimum 2 years in aerospace/defense, preferably solid rocket motor production.
• Expertise in rocket motor manufacture areas (composites, energetic materials, design, or production).
• Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
• Strong problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute production rocket motor contracts as the program propellant chemist.
• Act as the principal investigator on internal R&D efforts.
• Provide technical guidance on explosives chemistry and manufacturing.
• Maintain databases and analyze data for specification and regulatory compliance.
• Support implementation of innovative techniques and technologies.
