The Senior Scientist position at University of Missouri-Columbia's Division of Plant Science & Technology leads research at the Digital Agriculture Research and Extension Center (DAREC). The role advances smart farming technologies to improve soil health, crop production, and sustainability in collaboration with USDA-ARS.

You will design field experiments, develop sensing and AI systems, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and pursue external funding to grow the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 4 years of experience.
• Ph.D. preferred in Agricultural or Environmental sciences or related fields.
• Experience in field research, crop modelling, and digital agriculture is desirable.

Responsabilités

• Establish and execute field experiments for digital agriculture research.
• Develop sensing, crop modelling, decision-support, and AI systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across MU, USDA-ARS, and students.
• Lead research activities, data collection/analysis, and dissemination of findings.
• Develop competitive grant proposals and pursue external funding.
• Coordinate research, teaching, and outreach activities to advance the center's mission.
