Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking a Lead School Security Officer to work with the Safety and Security Specialist and the local school Principal to ensure student safety and to enforce school regulations on campus. The role includes responding to incidents, deterring trespassers, and assisting in the development and auditing of safety procedures, including the emergency response plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement or related field.
• Two years of responsible work experience involving monitoring and enforcing appropriate modes of conduct.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations regarding student safety and conduct and the ability to enforce those regulations.
• Ability to relate to, communicate with, and supervise young adults in order to help establish and maintain effective relationships with parents and the public.
• Mobility to patrol school hallways and grounds and to monitor student behavior, deter inappropriate behavior, and apprehend students.
• Sufficient vision to observe students and trespassers up to 100 yards away.

• Acts as the primary Safety and Security point of contact within the school.
• Primary liaison between the school administration and first responders.
• Assists in general supervision of school grounds and buildings; enforces school regulations; responds to losses of property.
• Provides student safety and supervisory assistance on school premises.
• Oversees parking and bus regulations and reports accidents on school property.
• Assists in the establishment and audit of local security and safety procedures including the emergency response plan.
• Develops effective school-community relations and promotes a positive school environment.
• Serves as liaison between Loudoun County law enforcement and fire safety officials and school administrators.
• Coordinates the student Crime Solvers program.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement or related field

Experience
