Job summary

McIntosh Box and Pallet Company, Inc. seeks an experienced sawyer to lead sawmill operations and supervise staff in a fast-paced pallet manufacturing environment. The role involves planning cutting schedules, reading production specs, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Safety and quality are top priorities. You will work Monday through Friday, 6am to 3pm, with pay starting at $19 per hour and commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a sawyer in a sawmill or pallet manufacturing operation.
• Strong working knowledge of sawmill equipment and lumber processing.
• Experience in leading or training employees in a production environment.
• Ability to manage production schedules and prioritize workload.
• Understanding safety procedures related to sawmill and heavy equipment operations.
• High degree of attention to detail and commitment to quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operate and lead sawmill cutting operations, including primary and secondary saws used in pallet production.
• Supervise and support all sawmill employees, ensuring proper training.
• Schedule daily and weekly cutting operations based on pallet production needs.
• Read and interpret production specifications to maximize lumber.
• Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs.
• Comply with company policies and safety guidelines.
• Identify workplace safety hazards.
• Assist team members in the yard and on the floor as needed.
• Special projects as assigned.
