Overview

In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. Act as an authority in the field of HS&E, providing technical guidance to develop and manage activities and programs directed toward preventing accidents, eliminating health and safety hazards and achieving compliance with current health, safety, and environment (HS&E) regulations and DOE directives.

Responsibilities
  • Influence strategic planning for major technical projects or multiple projects of major scope and complexity that significantly impact the business.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction for the department with coordination from other leaders.
  • Mentor and provide technical, experienced guidance to HS&E team members.
  • Advise and consult as a technical expert to drive and implement short- and long-term projects.
  • Review plant facilities, equipment, materials, and work practices to identify unsafe conditions and ensure implementation of hazard controls.
  • Review proposed layouts, facility design drawings and equipment specifications for safety hazards and document findings for corrective action.
  • Develop and conduct activities and programs directed toward preventing accidents and achieving compliance with HS&E regulations and DOE directives.
  • Develop safety and health orientations and training programs for employees.
  • Prepare applicable reports required by DOE or regulatory agencies.
  • Investigate accidents to determine causes and recommend actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with plant supervision, unions and employees to resolve safety and health concerns.
  • Ensure effective implementation of safety and health requirements.
  • Lead, direct, influence or coordinate HS&E projects, programs, products or components with responsibility for objectives, schedules and technical specifications.
  • Support Operational Readiness Reviews, Beneficial Occupancy Inspections, Hazard Assessments, Risk Assessments, and other investigations.
Qualifications
  • You Must Have: 7 years in a professional HS&E role, with experience implementing advanced HS&E engineering principles and technology related to highly complex technical assignments.
  • Bachelor's degree in an HS&E related field; an advanced degree or certifications are preferred.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management; determined by business needs.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).
