Job summary

Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center seeks a Lead Respiratory Therapist for night shifts to guide the respiratory team, coordinate staffing, and support patient care across the Cardiopulmonary department.

You will participate in new-hire orientation, scheduling, payroll logging, and quality controls, with opportunities to expand to PFT/EEG tasks and PI projects. This role emphasizes leadership and clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• 2 years of critical care experience is required.
• Preferred: 1 year in a supervisory role or educational instruction in management.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care is required.
• Preferred: B.S. degree or currently enrolled in B.S. program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, coordination and supervision of respiratory staff during shifts.
• Ensure minimum staffing and adjust for patient volumes.
• Lead new employee orientation and participate in interviewing and selection.
• Be trained to perform Pulmonary Function Testing and EEG as needed.
• Participate in staff appraisal processes with the Director.
• Develop monthly staff schedules and monitor scheduling systems.
• Log payroll hours in KRONOS and assist with supplies/inventory.
• Support departmental PI projects and assist management of the Blood Gas Laboratory.
• Participate in Shared Governance and act as department DESSO.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• Assists with planning, coordination and supervision of the Respiratory technical staff during the scheduled shift.
• Responsible for ensuring minimal staffing for shift coverage and works to increase staffing when patient volumes increase
• Assists and leads in the process of new employee orientation and provides input into the interviewing, hiring and selection process of new hires.
• In addition to performing the task of a staff Respiratory Therapist. Team lead will be trained to perform Pulmonary Function Testing and/or Electroencephalograms (EEG)
• Participates in appraisal process of staff with Director.
• Develops monthly work schedule for technical staff. Monitors Facility Scheduler on a regular basis to maximize/minimize staffing to meet patient care needs.
• Shares responsibility for logging payroll hours into the KRONOS system.
• Shares responsibility for ordering departmental operation supplies and assists with inventory control.
• Assists with departmental PI projects.
• Assist Director of Cardiopulmonary with management of Blood Gas Laboratory. Performs monthly quality controls (QCs)
• Participates with Shared Governance and acts as the department DESSO

What qualifications you will need:

EXPERIENCE:

• Required: 2 years of critical care experience.
• Preferred: 1 year experience in a supervisory role or educational instruction in management.

EDUCATION:

• Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care
• Preferred: B.S. degree or currently enrolled in B.S. program.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Required: · Current VA license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner ·
• BLS for Healthcare Providers through the AHA or CPR through the American Red Cross
• Preferred: · Certified Respiratory Therapist and/or Registered Respiratory Therapist ·
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABL
