Energy Storage Lead Power Market Analyst
Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)

This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development and execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, have accumulated over 8GW of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase which includes the growth of their Transmission, Interconnection, and Market Operations Team.

The position will help facilitate operational assessments that are the crux of the portfolio's success. The incumbent will also help pioneer the build-out and utilization of a proprietary battery storage/energy storage management platform for utility-scale renewable projects. The Lead Market Analyst role is a highly technical LEAD position that will drive transmission zonal and nodal production cost modeling efforts to support the commercial strategy of utility-scale renewable energy projects across all ISO/RTO markets in the United States. Leadership responsibilities also include mentoring junior staff. Experience with AURORA is a HUGE PLUS!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst develops production cost models and analysis of transmission renewable industry patterns in AURORA, PLEXOS, PROMOD, GRIDVIEW, or UPLAN to predict short/long-term electricity prices and drive greenfield renewables project development siting initiatives.
2. The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst performs optimization modeling to forecast congestion, assess congestion drivers, and assist in locational marginal pricing (LMP) assessments.
3. The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst advises on zonal & nodal analysis to enhance the company's market platform.
4. The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst selects trading nodes based on market congestion patterns & bid curve analysis.
5. The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst facilitates transmission topology comparisons and updates.
6. The Lead Power Market Analyst / Principal Transmission Analyst develops data visualization dashboards in PowerBI and queries in SQL to streamline processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 5-10+ Years transmission power market experience focused on production cost modeling, economic planning, or transmission market operations experience in Technical Leadership or Principal role.
2. AURORA power market modeling experience is ideal but similar programs like PROMOD, PLEXOS, GridView, and UPLAN will also be considered.
3. Must have experience with various types of analysis - capacity prices, regional energy pricing, congestion and curtailment analysis, transmission constraints, interconnection assessments, LMPs, and/or regional supply and demand curves.
4. Data Visualization experience in tools like PowerBI is a HUGE PLUS.
5. Hands-on experience or solid understanding of transmission topology.
6. Must have an understanding of national energy markets and renewable energy portfolios (PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO).
7. Experience and strong automation skills in Excel, VBA, SQL, Python, MATLAB.
8. Any battery storage or large scale renewable energy (solar, wind, hydrogen) experience is a HUGE PLUS.
