Job summary

Disney Experiences (DXT) Technology & Digital seeks a Lead Software Engineer to own multi‑system outcomes, drive architecture decisions, and deliver scalable real‑time data platforms. You will write production code, shape roadmaps, and coordinate across edge, cloud, and data teams in a hands‑on leadership role.

You will mentor engineers, manage end‑to‑end delivery across projects, and ensure observable, reliable systems on AWS with a bias toward performance and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must have 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including distributed, production systems.
• Must have 3+ years of cross‑team technical leadership and end‑to‑end ownership of multi‑service initiatives.
• Leads through technical influence, not direct people management.
• Strong real‑time/streaming data pipeline experience (ingestion, aggregation, windowing, emission) with AWS/Kafka/MQTT.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java.
• Deep hands‑on AWS experience (ECS/EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, Timestream/InfluxDB).
• Excellent understanding of event‑driven architecture and observable, resilient systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate real‑time, event‑driven systems ingesting data from edge devices.
• Develop backend services and streaming pipelines to transform data into reliable events.
• Architect and operate production systems on AWS with scalability and cost efficiency.
• Lead end‑to‑end delivery across multiple systems, balancing goals and constraints.
• Make technical decisions and own critical platform components.
• Create versioned event schemas and APIs for downstream consumers.
• Act as a technical liaison with high autonomy to teams and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior developers and present to executives.
• Plan and estimate complex scalable projects.
