Position Summary
The Lead Registered Dental Assistant (Lead RDA) works in conjunction with the Dental Director and the Dentists to provide supervision to the dental assisting staff. In collaboration with other dental operations staff, the Lead RDA provides a setting for quality patient care as well as circulating assistance in chairside dental procedures. The Lead RDA must be knowledgeable in all dentistry procedures, clinic infection control procedures, OSHA requirements, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray setup and materials. This position may require travel between Northern Valley Indian Health, Inc. sites.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide leadership and support to dental assisting staff, including staff evaluations, coaching/counseling, motivate and inspire staff to work as a cohesive and productive team.
- Coordinate dental department staffing schedules for the Agency.
- Working in conjunction with the Dental Director/Dentists and Reception staff to collaborate and resolve day‑to‑day patient care operations challenges.
- Dental Department Representative at appropriate meetings.
- Primarily responsible for inventory and reordering supplies as necessary to maintain par levels, keeping within department budget.
- Dental equipment maintenance coordination.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to OSHA, infection control, and verification logs.
- Perform any and all duties of dental assisting staff positions as needed to ensure continuity of back‑office dental operations.

Required Experience & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, GED.
- Five years' experience as a Registered Dental Assistant licensed by the State of California.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Maintain Registered Dental Assistant certification.
- Coronal Polish and Sealants Certificate.
- Radiation Safety Certificate.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of dental care in a dental clinic setting.
- Possess leadership, communication, interpersonal, organizational and evaluation abilities.
- Ability to plan work duties to ensure dental clinic efficiency.
- Ability to effectively function and participate within a team environment
- Exhibit empathy and customer service to diffuse and manage conflict within the team and with patients or their representatives.
- Ability to engage in problem solving and effectively communicate solution-based feedback.
- Knowledge of patient scheduling procedures.
- Reliable transportation.
