Job summary

Watco is hiring a Signal Foreman - Peanut Gang in Madison, WI. This hourly, full-time role leads a mobile signal maintenance crew to install, test, repair, and maintain railroad signal and crossing systems, ensuring safety and compliance.

The position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership, and the ability to work across diverse sites. You will plan daily work, guide crew members, troubleshoot complex issues, read electrical diagrams, and ensure equipment is maintained to railroad

Qualifications

• Must have prior railroad signal maintenance experience; supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of railroad signal systems, grade crossing systems, electrical circuits and related equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret signal plans, wiring diagrams, schematics and manuals.
• Willingness to travel extensively as part of a mobile maintenance crew.
• Must possess or be able to obtain railroad qualifications, certifications and licenses.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily activities of the Signal Peanut Gang.
• Plan work assignments and organize crew, tools, equipment, materials, and resources.
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, test, and install railroad signal systems and related equipment.
• Maintain and repair grade crossing warning devices, signal equipment, and related components.
• Diagnose problems using testing equipment and manuals.
• Provide technical guidance to Signal Maintainers and other crew members.
• Travel extensively as part of a mobile maintenance crew; work at various locations.
