Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking an experienced Radiologic Technologist to perform advanced radiographic procedures and ensure adherence to safety protocols. This role leads department programs, mentors junior staff, and steps in for the team leader when needed.

The ideal candidate will have AMA-approved radiologic technology training, ARRT certification, a state license, and 5 years of radiologic experience, with strong computer and communication skills and the ability to travel between facilities.

Qualifications

• Completion of AMA-approved radiologic technology program.
• At least 5 years of radiologic technologist experience.
• ARRT registration and state license.
• Current BLS certification.
• Proficient with radiology information systems (RIS).

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
• Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Operates imaging equipment according to protocol; may place nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, or administer contrast.
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission for diagnostic quality.
• Performs timely quality control per regulatory standards and initiates remediation as needed.
• Leads departmental programs, protocol development, and safety initiatives.
• Assists in orientation and training of junior staff; provides feedback in evaluations.
• Adapts communication and approach to diverse patient populations.
• Performs other related duties as required.
