Job summary

Kapta Space in Seattle, WA is seeking a Lead Radiation Effects Engineer to lead radiation analysis across avionics and payload electronics. The role requires independent, self-motivated engineering, strong communication across disciplines, and the ability to drive radiation strategies and budgets. Domestic travel required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in radiation-effects engineering for high-reliability electronics.
• Hands-on experience planning and executing radiation test campaigns.
• Experience developing analysis tools, automation, and internal data systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the radiation assurance strategy and framework.
• Build radiation budgets, analyze mission environments, and assess system reliability.
• Plan and execute SEE, TID, and DD test campaigns at component and assembly levels.
• Analyze test results, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend mitigations.
• Create internal tools/workflows for radiation analysis and qualification.
• Monitor PCNs and assess impact on radiation performance.
• Support reliability analysis and on-orbit anomaly investigations.
• Drive improvements to radiation modeling standards.
