Job summary

Photon is building an insights repository that will serve as the quantitative backbone of an AI-powered research intelligence system. We are seeking a Survey Research Scientist to own the quantitative workstream and scale survey best practices across the team.

This hands-on role requires deep expertise in survey methodology and measurement science, with the ability to build rigorous, reusable frameworks that elevate the quality of the entire research program.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in psychology, statistics, cognitive science, sociology, or related quantitative field.
  • Proficiency in CFA and IRT for scale development and validation.
  • Applied experience in sampling design (stratified and quota-based).
  • Experience with segmentation methods: LCA, factor analysis, cluster analysis, PCA.
  • Inferential statistics: regression, ANOVA, multiple-comparisons correction.
  • Experience with MaxDiff and/or conjoint analysis.
  • Proficiency in R or Python; familiarity with Qualtrics or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design and validate quantitative research instruments ensuring reliability and validity.
  • Develop and maintain library of validated scales for core constructs.
  • Lead design and validation of client segmentation using LCA, factor analysis and clustering.
  • Conduct inferential analyses across datasets (regression, significance testing).
  • Define confidence standards and ensure proper interpretation of findings.
  • Collaborate with qualitative researchers to integrate quantitative findings into the shared repository.
