Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years in Software Quality Assurance.
  • 6 years in SDET or automation-focused roles.
  • QA lead or key contributor on complex projects.
  • Strong hands-on manual and automated testing experience.
  • SDLC, Agile, and modern testing practices understanding.
  • Experience with API testing RESTful/SOAP and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with Jira and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, Copado).
  • Experience collaborating with distributed teams across geographies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to QA engineers and SDETs.
  • Act as the primary QA point of contact for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams for clear, testable requirements.
  • Define and execute test strategies aligned with scope and timelines.

  • Oversee manual and automated testing across functional areas.

Liberator Medical Supply, a BD company, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Lead Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong track record of leading and coordinating onshore and offshore QA teams, championing quality best practices, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions to our customers.


Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager, Software Quality Engineering, the Lead QA Engineer plays a critical role in driving quality across complex, cross-functional initiatives and ensuring the reliability of BD’s software solutions. This role is focused on leading and coordinating QA efforts across distributed onshore and offshore teams, as well as multiple vendor partners, to deliver high-quality outcomes.


In this crucial leadership role, in partnership with the Sr. Manager, Software Quality Engineering, you will help establish the best practices to test our products, proactively identifying and working with the team in resolving defects to ensure they meet our highest standards of performance, reliability, and usability. Your expertise will directly contribute to delivering a seamless and positive experience for our customers, supporting BD’s mission of providing innovative and dependable software solutions. This position requires a hands‑on Lead QA Engineer who can effectively manage and support testing efforts end‑to‑end, while also contributing directly when needed. In addition, you will lead test strategies across initiatives, strengthen test coverage, and proactively identify and address risks and defects. You will coordinate across teams and vendors to support efficient, predictable delivery while introducing modern tools and AI‑driven approaches to improve test efficiency and overall quality outcomes.


The Lead QA Engineer role requires a proactive, detail‑oriented professional with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. This individual will partner with Sr. Manager, Software Quality Engineering, Product Owners, development teams, and vendors to drive scalable QA strategies, ensure alignment with business priorities, and deliver high‑quality solutions that meet customer and organizational needs. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high‑quality results in a fast‑paced environment. The candidate will demonstrate accountability for quality outcomes, with a strong focus on delivering reliable, scalable, and high‑quality software solutions. Having strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and drive improvements in product quality will be key.


Responsibilities


  • Provide day‑to‑day guidance and mentorship to QA engineers and SDETs, supporting their technical growth and delivery effectiveness

  • Act as the primary QA point of contact for assigned projects, ensuring alignment across teams and stakeholders

  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure clear, testable requirements and shared quality expectations

  • Define and execute test strategies aligned with project scope, timelines, and delivery goals

  • Plan and estimate testing activities to ensure efficient execution and adequate coverage

  • Oversee execution of manual and automated testing across functional, regression, and integration areas

  • Review and validate test cases to ensure alignment with business and technical requirements

  • Drive adoption and implementation of test automation, improving efficiency and consistency

  • Maintain and enhance automation frameworks, tools, and scripts

  • Leverage AI‑driven tools and modern testing techniques to optimize test design, accelerate automation development, improve defect detection, and enhance overall QA efficiency

  • Implement effective versioning and environment promotion practices for automation assets

  • Track, prioritize, and manage defects through their lifecycle, ensuring timely resolution

  • Analyze quality metrics and perform root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement

  • Support release planning and readiness, providing QA sign‑off based on defined quality criteria

  • Ensure availability of test environments and manage high‑quality, secure test data aligned with real‑world scenarios


Reporting Relationship Responsibilities


  • No supervisory responsibilities or direct reports to this role (Provides work direction only as a Lead).


Minimum Required


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience in general Software Quality Assurance,

  • 6 years of experience in SDET or automation‑focused roles.

  • Previous experience acting as a QA lead or key contributor on complex, cross‑functional projects, driving quality outcomes within delivery teams.

  • Strong hands‑on experience in both manual and automated testing.

  • Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and modern testing best practices.

  • Deep understanding of test automation frameworks, tools, and methodologies, with hands‑on experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions

  • Experience with API testing, including RESTful and SOAP services, and validation of system integrations

  • Solid technical foundation in software development concepts, including object‑oriented programming and design principles

  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira,

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, Copado)

  • Experience collaborating with distributed and cross‑functional teams across multiple geographic locations


Preferred Skills/Experience


  • Experience working with enterprise platforms and technologies such as Salesforce, APIs, middleware (e.g., MuleSoft), and cloud‑based systems.

  • Familiarity with healthcare or regulated environments, including awareness of compliance, data sensitivity, and quality standards.
