Job summary

Charleston Water System is seeking a Pump Mechanic Supervisor to lead a crew responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing pumps, motors, pipes, valves, and related equipment at wastewater pumping stations.

The role combines supervisory duties with hands-on work, ensuring safety compliance and accurate reporting of daily activities. A high school diploma and several years in utility systems are required, with SCADA familiarity and strong technical skills preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4 years experience in a public utility system, construction, manufacturing, and/or industrial maintenance working with pumps, motors, controls and valves OR equivalent.
• Working knowledge of pipefitting tools, electrical repair instruments and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates activities in the inspection and maintenance of wastewater pumping stations.
• Inspects pumping stations, corrects malfunctions, and/or makes adjustments as necessary for proper operation.
• Removes, repairs, replaces or upgrades pumps, valves, motors, control components, piping and other equipment in and around pumping stations.
• Troubleshoots and may repair general electrical problems associated with pumping stations or portable pumping equipment.
• Ensures compliance with all CWS and OSHA safety standards at work sites, and while transporting equipment to and from worksites.
