Job summary

Wexford Health Sources, Inc. is seeking a Psychiatrist to lead behavioral health services at Orleans Justice Center in New Orleans, LA.

The role focuses on evaluations, diagnoses, treatment planning, and medication management for incarcerated patients within a structured correctional setting. You will guide the behavioral health program, collaborate with clinical and corrections staff, ensure quality care, complete documentation, and support staff development and program improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted state medical license in state of practice.
• Board Certification - American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology required.
• Active applicable Controlled Substance Registration/License/Certification in state of practice.
• Current DEA registration.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management for patients with behavioral health needs.
• Lead and support the facility's psychiatric and behavioral health programs to ensure quality, patient-centered care.
• Monitor the appropriate utilization of psychotropic medications and oversee clinical treatment outcomes.
• Collaborate with medical, nursing, behavioral health, and correctional staff to coordinate care and support patient stability.
• Provide clinical guidance, training, and support to behavioral health staff and institutional personnel.
• Assist with program development, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance with correctional healthcare standards.
• Ensure timely completion of clinical documentation, evaluations, and required reports.
