Job summary

Telex LLC in the United States seeks a Lead Protection and Control Technician to own commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protective relaying schemes across generation, transmission, and distribution substations.

You'll lead field projects, mentor technicians, and partner with clients and vendors to deliver reliable power systems. Requires 5+ years in relay testing and strong leadership; travel readiness and a valid driver's license are a must.

Qualifications

• 5+ years field experience in relay testing and substation commissioning.
• Expertise in three-phase power systems and protection schemes.
• Proficiency with Omicron, Doble, Vanguard, and related test equipment.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFRs, SCADA, and automation systems.
• Perform advanced end-to-end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
• Execute functional and scheme testing: reclosing, breaker failure, advanced logic, and communication-assisted protection schemes.
• Troubleshoot and optimize protocols including DNP3, Modbus, 8979, using Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000.
• Develop and refine standardized commissioning and testing procedures.
• Mentor junior technicians and oversee field execution for safety and quality.
• Partner with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver world-class reliability.

The Opportunity

• Skilled in RTS, Test Universe, Protection Suite, and Accelerator.
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
