The Deb Laboratory in the Division of Cardiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is seeking an Assistant Project Scientist to lead research on the methionine salvage pathway in cardiovascular disease. Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent required.
• Direct research experience in cardiac metabolism.
• Experience with mouse models and echocardiographic/hemodynamic phenotyping.
• Proficiency in standard molecular and biochemical techniques.
• Expertise in single-cell/single-nucleus multiome analysis and epigenomic profiling.
• Experience with stem cell, iPSC or organoid culture systems.
• Publications in high-impact cardiovascular/metabolism/cell biology journals.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead research projects on how MSP regulates cardiac metabolism and the epigenome.
• Utilize and develop genetically engineered mouse models for cardiovascular disease.
• Perform in vivo/in vitro isotope tracing, metabolomics, and energetics studies.
• Generate and analyze single-cell multi-omics data; integrate with human heart failure data.
• Establish human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and organoids for mechanistic studies.
• Prepare manuscripts, figures and grant progress reports; contribute to grant applications.
• Train and mentor students, postdocs and technicians.
• Contribute to collaborative tissue repair and translational therapeutics projects.
