Job summary

Mace is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead medium-sized projects in a consultancy context in San Francisco. You will coordinate client, design teams and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will apply Mace's safety culture, manage risks, and lead project teams to achieve strategic KPIs while maintaining quality and compliance across all stages.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing medium-sized projects.
  • Advanced stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong budgeting, commercial and financial management skills.
  • Solid understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and related functions.
  • Sound knowledge of HSE regulations and sector-specific requirements.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and develop teams with inclusive, high-performance mindset.
  • Degree or equivalent with relevant technical certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Determines and arranges project management, technical services and external resources for the project.
  • Collaborates with client, design team and consultants to ensure delivery per expectations.
  • Demonstrates Safety First and uses Mace's HSW framework.
  • Provides subject matter knowledge to support project teams across Mace.
  • Procures and manages design and wider consultant teams and stakeholders.
  • Produces or coordinates design and authorities programme integrated with delivery schedule.
  • Manages delivery to programme from inception to construction milestones.
  • Delivers project objectives per the Project Execution Plan and KPIs.
  • Prepares and updates project plans as needed.
  • Oversees timeframes and budgets, notes risks and mitigations.
  • Ensures robust quality systems are in place and monitored.
  • Leads and records important meetings with stakeholders.
  • Engages in risk management and mitigation discussions.
  • Coordinates and communicates to ensure completion of tasks and records.

You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Determines and arranges project management, technical services and external resources required for the project on an individual and team basis on behalf of client organization.
  • Collaborates with the team/s (client, design team and other consultants, and contractor) and all stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project in line with all expectations communicating strategies to the team.
  • Demonstrates Mace's value of Safety First, exhibiting visible safety behaviours and using safety moments and Mace's HSW framework.
  • Provides subject matter knowledge to support the team(s) from the broader Mace projects and business units to assist in ensuring the best project outcome.
  • Procures and manages design and wider consultant team(s) and project stakeholders to ensure effective completion of responsibilities including project brief/scope, fees, processing claims, deliverable and/or project variations etc. Actively supports collaboration between all parties.
  • Produces design and authorities programme (or works with a planner to produce) to be integrated with procurement and delivery programme.
  • Manages the timely and successful delivery to programme from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones and is accountable for the scope of works relating to the project portfolios.
  • Delivers the project objectives in line with the Project Execution Plan, leads and manages the project team/s and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepares and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.
  • Oversees project timeframes and budgets, ensuring successful delivery of projects, highlighting any risks, challenges and mitigations.
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders and ensures robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed and monitored in line with Service Excellence.
  • Leads and records relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis.
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management and mitigation treatments.
  • Effectively coordinates and communicates with all project stakeholders, ensuring completion of responsibilities/tasks and that appropriate standards and records are documented and maintained.
  • Takes ownership of project changes, as and when necessary, tracking project changes and ensuring they are progressed and formalized within the agreed timeframes.
You’ll need to have
  • Proven experience managing medium-sized projects, with strong knowledge of project management methodologies and practices
  • Advanced stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills, with ability to influence and maintain client focus
  • Strong budgeting, commercial, and financial management skills, including oversight of internal budgets, fees, and proposals
  • Solid understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and related functions (estimating, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration)
  • Sound knowledge of HSE regulations and sector-specific compliance requirements
  • Ability to lead, manage, and develop teams, providing direction, mentoring, and fostering an inclusive, high-performance environment
  • Degree in construction, engineering, project management, or related discipline (or equivalent), with relevant technical certifications
