Job summary

Saber Power Services is seeking a seasoned Lead, Project Management – Field Services to provide leadership, governance, and oversight for complex electrical field service projects. The role demands governance over budgets, scheduling, risk, and customer delivery across multiple sites.

Saber Power Services is seeking an experienced, results-driven Lead, Project Management – Field Services to provide leadership, governance, and oversight for the successful execution and financial performance of complex electrical field service projects.

This position will play a key leadership role in the development and continued maturation of Saber's Project Management Group and will be responsible for establishing consistent project management processes, financial controls, reporting standards, and execution expectations across the Field Services organization.

The Lead, Project Management will oversee a portfolio of complex projects and provide leadership, coaching, and direction to Project Leads responsible for medium- and high-voltage electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, construction support, and related field services.

The successful candidate will have strong operational and commercial acumen, extensive experience managing complex electrical projects, and a demonstrated understanding of project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, cost control, change management, margin protection, billing, and project closeout.

This individual must be capable of identifying project risk early, driving accountability across cross-functional teams, and ensuring projects are executed safely, profitably, on schedule, and in accordance with contractual requirements and Saber standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of complex low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical field service projects.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Saber's Project Management Group, including standardized processes, procedures, templates, controls, reporting requirements, and project execution expectations.
  • Establish and enforce consistent project management practices throughout the Field Services organization.
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop Project Leads while establishing clear expectations for project ownership, financial accountability, communication, documentation, and execution.
  • Review the performance of the overall project portfolio and identify projects requiring additional leadership attention, corrective action, or executive escalation.
  • Establish appropriate project governance based on project size, complexity, duration, contractual risk, financial exposure, and customer requirements.
  • Drive accountability across Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Estimating, Sales, Safety, Quality, Accounting, and other supporting functions.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead and oversee projects throughout the complete project lifecycle, including pre-award review, estimating support, contract review, project turnover, kickoff, planning, mobilization, execution, monitoring, change management, billing support, and final closeout.
  • Ensure formal project turnover and kickoff processes are completed for applicable projects, including validation of scope, assumptions, exclusions, schedule, labor requirements, equipment requirements, subcontractors, materials, contractual obligations, billing requirements, and financial expectations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project execution plans identifying scope, schedule, budget, resources, major milestones, risks, procurement requirements, and customer deliverables.
  • Ensure projects have appropriate staffing plans and coordinate with Operations and Resource Management to forecast manpower requirements and address resource constraints.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other approved project management systems.
  • Monitor critical-path activities, project milestones, customer dependencies, and schedule impacts and implement recovery plans when projects deviate from baseline.
  • Conduct regular project reviews, site visits, and field progress assessments to verify execution against scope, schedule, safety, quality, and financial expectations.
  • Coordinate and lead internal and external project meetings and ensure action items, responsibilities, and deadlines are documented and tracked through completion.
  • Maintain ownership and visibility of project financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop, maintain, and validate project budgets, cost forecasts, revenue forecasts, estimated cost at completion, and projected final margins.
  • Provide accurate monthly project forecasting and revenue projections in coordination with Operations and Finance.
  • Review actual project performance against budget and forecast and identify unfavorable trends before they materially impact project profitability.
  • Monitor labor productivity, overtime, equipment rentals, subcontractor costs, material costs, travel, per diem, and other project expenditures against budget.
  • Identify margin erosion and implement documented corrective action and recovery plans.
  • Ensure project financial changes are reflected promptly in forecasts rather than deferred until project completion.
  • Support accurate revenue recognition, WIP reporting, billing forecasts, and financial closeout.
  • Partner with Accounting and Operations to ensure completed and billable work is invoiced timely and accurately.
  • Identify unbilled work, outstanding change orders, commercial exposure, and other items that may negatively impact project cash flow or profitability.
  • Conduct or participate in project financial reviews and root-cause investigations for projects that fail to achieve established financial expectations.

Contract & Change Management

  • Review contracts, purchase orders, scopes of work, proposals, schedules, and commercial terms to ensure project teams understand contractual requirements, deliverables, exclusions, assumptions, and risk.
  • Partner with appropriate internal stakeholders to identify and escalation unfavorable contractual terms or commercial exposure.
  • Establish and enforce effective management procedures to ensure work outside the contracted scope is identified, documented, priced, approved and captured before or as the work is performed whenever practical.
  • Maintain visibility of pending and approved change orders and evaluate their impact on project schedule, cost, revenue and margin.
  • Oversee contract administration, notices, RFI, submittals, claims, back charges, schedule impacts, and other contractual correspondence.
  • Support the resolution of commercial disputes and claims in coordination with Operations, Finance, Sales, and Legal as appropriate.

Project Controls & Reporting

  • Establish and maintain project controls to track scope, schedule, cost, labor, revenue, margin, change orders, RFIs, submittals, procurement, quality, safety, risks, deficiencies, punch‑list items, and closeout requirements.
  • Develop standardized dashboards, reports, and KPIs that provide leadership with clear visibility into project and portfolio performance.
  • Provide regular project and portfolio reporting to Field Services and Senior Leadership, including financial performance, schedule status, major risks, resource requirements, change‑order exposure, and corrective actions.
  • Establish early‑warning indicators for projects trending outside approved financial, schedule, safety, quality, or customer expectations.
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained accurately and consistently within Saber‑approved systems.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation to support customer billing, contractual compliance, change orders, claims, and project closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project risk registers for applicable projects and proactively identify operational, commercial, technical, safety, scheduling, resource, and financial risks.
  • Assign risk ownership and ensure mitigation actions are developed, documented, and completed.
  • Escalating material project risks to appropriate leadership before they result in significant financial or customer impact.
  • Develop recovery plans for projects experiencing schedule delays, cost overruns, resource shortages, scope disputes, or other significant performance issues.
  • Lead or participate in lessons‑learned and root‑cause reviews and ensure corrective actions are incorporated into future project execution.

Safety, Quality & Technical Compliance

  • Promote and reinforce Saber's safety culture and ensure project planning and execution align with company safety policies and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Safety and Quality teams to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, quality procedures, inspection requirements, and project‑specific plans.
  • Ensure project execution complies with applicable standards and requirements, including NETA, NFPA, NEC, NESC, IEEE, OSHA, NERC, FERC, utility requirements, manufacturer requirements, and customer specifications, as applicable.
  • Ensure testing, commissioning, quality documentation, deficiencies, and technical deliverables are properly tracked through completion.
  • Support the timely escalation and resolution of technical or quality issues that could impact project safety, schedule, cost, or customer acceptance.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients and support Project Leads in managing customer relationships.
  • Maintain proactive communication regarding project status, milestones, schedule changes, risks, commercial matters, and required customer decisions.
  • Lead escalation and resolution of significant customer concerns in collaboration with Operations and other Saber leadership.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, utilities, engineering firms, general contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure customer commitments are clearly documented and communicated to the project team.
  • Drive a high level of client satisfaction while protecting Saber's contractual and financial interests.

Project Closeout

  • Ensure projects are formally closed in a timely manner following completion of field activities.
  • Oversee completion of final testing reports, turnover packages, as‑built documentation, punch lists, deficiencies, customer deliverables, and other contractual closeout requirements.
  • Ensure all outstanding change orders and commercial issues are resolved or appropriately escalated before financial closeout.
  • Coordinate with Accounting to verify final billing, cost capture, revenue recognition, and financial closure.
  • Conduct lessons‑learned reviews on applicable projects and communicate findings to Operations, Estimating, Sales, Engineering, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify recurring execution issues and implement process improvements to prevent recurrence.

Continuous Improvement & Organizational Development

  • Develop scalable project management processes capable of supporting Saber's continued growth.
  • Establish and monitor Project Management Group KPIs related to financial performance, forecast accuracy, schedule performance, change‑order capture, project closeout, client satisfaction, and other key business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project execution efficiency, reporting, cost control, resource utilization, and profitability.
  • Partner with Operations and other functional leaders to continuously improve project handoff, execution, and closeout processes.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing project management technology, reporting tools, dashboards, and other systems necessary to improve project visibility and control.
  • Develop training, tools, and best practices to improve project management competency throughout the Field Services organization.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive project management experience, preferably within electrical power systems, electrical testing and commissioning, utility, industrial, data center, renewable energy, or other mission‑critical electrical infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex projects with significant financial and operational responsibility.
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, or developing Project Leads or project teams strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost‑to‑complete, revenue recognition, WIP, margin analysis, change management, and project profitability.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify project performance issues and implement corrective action before significant financial impact occurs.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and/or power system project execution.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical industry standards, including NETA, NFPA, NEC, NESC, IEEE, and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or comparable scheduling software.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, customers, engineers, executives, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and Saber operating locations as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NETA industry experience or experience working within a NETA‑accredited organization.
  • Experience with medium- and high‑voltage electrical testing and commissioning projects.
  • Experience developing or scaling a Project Management Office or centralized Project Management function.
  • Experience implementing project controls, standardized KPIs, dashboards, and portfolio‑level reporting.
