Job summary

SkyMark Refuelers, LLC in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the design, development, and execution of custom heavy-duty equipment projects from concept through production. You will integrate mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, compliant specialty vehicles such as aircraft refuelers and crane trucks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of engineering experience in heavy/mobile equipment preferred.
• Experience with project management, manufacturing support, and customer-facing engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering and execution of custom vehicle projects from concept through production.
• Design complete mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems for specialty vehicles.
• Perform component selection, system sizing, and performance analysis.
• Develop structural weldments and fabricate assemblies using sound engineering principles.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
• Establish chassis specs, weight distribution, and packaging for safe designs.
• Ensure designs comply with DOT, FRA, NFPA, ATA, JIG, CSA, and customer requirements.
• Research new technologies and drive product improvement.
• Manage project schedules, risks, design reviews, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Production, Service, Suppliers, and Customers.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and implement design changes.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards.
