Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or similar degree.
  • 8+ years in aerospace/defense developing complex systems, including at least 3 years focused on system architecture and CAM/EVM program management.
  • 5+ years of experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), cost estimation, variance analysis (CV/SV), and baseline change requests (BCRs).
  • Strong technical understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, turbomachinery, power electronics, or engine control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Architecture Definition: Design comprehensive architecture blueprints for rocket, jet, or electric propulsion systems, including fuel delivery, thrust management, and power distribution subsystems.
  • Cost Account Management (CAM): Serve as the CAM for the Systems Engineering workscope, managing budget baselines, analyzing variances, and driving Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics.
  • Schedule & Resource Optimization: Establish and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for systems engineering tasks, accurately forecasting resource and staffing needs.
  • Requirements Development: Lead the requirements development activity to ensure product alignment with Customer/Stakeholder requirements. Experience with DOORS 9x and/or DOORS NG.
  • MBSE Strategy: Lead the deployment and governance of Model-Based Systems Engineering across programs to maximize digital continuity.
  • Trade Studies: Author and execute complex trade studies to optimize critical variables including thrust-to-weight ratios, fuel efficiency, thermal management, and SWaP-C.
  • Design Reviews: Serve as the primary technical authority during major program milestones, including SRR, PDR, and CDR.
  • Risk & Safety Governance: Oversee FMECA and Hazard Analyses to ensure engine resilience and flight safety.
  • Interface Management: Define and manage complex interfaces between propulsion system, FADEC, and main vehicle structure.

We are seeking a Lead Project Engineer within Engines and Power Systems to lead architecture definition and new product lifecycle development in accordance with ARP4754B. In this role, you will have Cost Account Manager (CAM) responsibilities for cost, schedule, and risk. You will be responsible for ensuring the system architecture for new products is aligned and in accordance with system requirements. Where necessary, you will coordinate trade study activities to ensure a world class product solution is developed. In this dual-impact role, you will work cross-functionally to lead the System Lifecycle reviews (SRR, SFR, PDR, and CDR) and Systems process in accordance with the System Plans and ensure all system requirements are met while maintaining fiscal and programmatic control over the Systems Engineering work packages. Your leadership ensures that complex technical solutions deliver on flight safety and performance targets while remaining on schedule and within budget. Candidate must have strong communication skills.

  • Risk & Safety Governance: Oversee Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and Hazard Analyses to ensure absolute engine resilience and flight safety.
  • Interface Management: Define and manage complex interfaces between the propulsion system, the avionics control units (FADEC), and the main vehicle structure.
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree.
  • 8+ years in aerospace/defense developing complex systems (gas turbine engine experience preferred), including at least 3 years focused on system architecture and demonstrated experience in CAM/EVM program management.
  • 5+ yearsof experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), cost estimation, variance analysis (CV/SV), and baseline change requests (BCRs).
  • Strong technical understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, turbomachinery, power electronics, or engine control systems.

  • Propulsion & Power Expertise: Strong technical understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, turbomachinery, power electronics, or engine control systems.
  • Modeling Tools (preferred): Experience using MBSE environments (Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw) and multi-domain simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink or Amesim).
  • Industry Standards: Thorough knowledge of aerospace engine certification lifecycles (e.g., FAA Part 33, military engine structural integrity programs (MIL-HDBK-1783), or ARP4754A).
  • Technical Leadership: Proven ability to influence and guide principal-level engineers across multiple technical silos without direct administrative authority.
