Job summary

L3Harris is seeking a Lead Project Engineer in Greenville, TX to provide technical authority and lead cross-functional engineering teams across the program lifecycle.

The role interfaces with customers and manufacturing, ensuring technical performance, schedule, and budget compliance, with DoD security clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 12 years of related program/project/engineering experience.
• Graduate Degree and minimum 10 years of related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum 16 years of related program/engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience in program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Understanding of engineering processes and policies.
• Experience in Aircraft Integration, Test and Delivery.
• Experience in Software/Hardware Eng., Systems Eng., or Project Engineering.
• Preferred leadership roles such as IPT Leader or Functional Manager.

Job Description:

The Lead Project Engineer has technical authority from Engineering Leadership to execute assigned programs.

The individual Engineering Functional Task Leaders (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Specialty Engineering, Logistic Engineering, Technical Publications, etc.) report to and take direction from the Lead Project Engineer for the assigned program operations.

The Lead Project Engineer is also responsible for program technical performance that extends beyond the Engineering functions (such as Manufacturing and Hangar, Dock and Line (HD&L)) to ensure technical compliance within the total operations activities. In addition, Project Engineers are the key technical interfaces to Customers and have the responsibility to interact with Customers at every phase of the program lifecycle.

Essential Functions:

• Planning and execution of program activities.
• Documenting and approval of program plans.
• Ensuring life-cycle process adherence.
• Risk identification and management.
• Customer and Senior Leadership interaction.
• Overall program coordination during the program lifecycle.
• An active DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship. Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant program/project and engineering experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related program/project and engineering experience.
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related program/project and engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience in program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Demonstrated experience understanding of engineering processes and policies.
• Demonstrated experience in Aircraft Integration, Test and Delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in one of the following disciplines:
• Software/Hardware Engineering.
• Systems Engineering (including Test Engineering).
• Project Engineering. Preferred Additional Skills:
• Demonstrated experience in leadership by being a Task Leader, IPT Leader, and/or Functional Manager, or other similar leadership roles.
• Exceptional ability to communicate with internal and external customer stakeholders.
• RC-135 Weapon System Experience.
• Exposure to control drawing specifications and aero wiring diagrams.
• Ability to find suitable substitutes for obsolete parts.
• Ability to work with many other groups including internal HW, SW, and Aero teams, along with external USAF customer and external hardware vendors.
• Experience with KVM systems.
• General knowledge of network switches, KG encryptors, RF/IF hardware, and NAS.
• Understanding of DO-160 environmental testing requirements.
• Willingness to generate system wiring diagrams and server configuration documentation.
• Understanding of L3Harris bid process.
