Job summary

MANN+HUMMEL, Gastonia, NC, is seeking a Lead Product Engineer to drive the design and development of filtration system products. You will lead complex mechanical designs, coordinate CAE activities, and mentor teams to meet specifications, cost targets, and timelines.

You will collaborate with operations and global teams, ensure manufacturability, and support CAD tasks and design documentation throughout the product lifecycle. Domestic travel up to 10–20% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Experience creating and releasing engineering drawings and managing engineering change processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of air/liquid filtration system products to meet internal/external specs, cost, and timelines.
• Maintain accountability and responsiveness in customer communication to ensure satisfaction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate designs, verify feasibility, and minimize costs for development and manufacturing while ensuring design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Work with operations to align product designs with production strategies and optimize process capabilities.
• Coordinate CAE activities for design validation and analyze results to optimize performance, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with Testing to establish validation methods, interpret results, and recommend design improvements.
• Work with GBTS for engineering and CAD tasks including support for 3D modeling, drawings, and documentation.
• Participate in Kaizen/DLS workshops and support annual objectives related to product design and development improvements.
• Complete required tasks for each Gate per PM process including engineering deliverables and release documentation.
• Support development and release of engineering drawings, BOMs to ensure accurate product release into manufacturing.
