Job summary

State of Alaska is seeking a lead worker to supervise approximately 25 inmate kitchen staff at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel. The role focuses on directing meal preparation, serving duties, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards in a correctional kitchen.

Responsibilities include ensuring diet orders are followed (vegetarian, diabetic, allergies, religious) and overseeing bread and pastry production.

Qualifications

• Direct supervision and instruction for inmate workers in kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food service, safety, sanitation, and serving procedures.
• Clear oral and written communication with staff, inmates, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise approximately 25 inmate workers in meal preparation and service.
• Ensure menu consistency and proper portioning for meals.
• Oversee diets and dietary accommodations for special needs (vegetarian, diabetic, allergies, religious, etc.).
• Coordinate baking and pastry production as required.
