Job summary
The Hershey Company is seeking a Principal Scientist, R&D for its Salty Snacks portfolio. You will provide technical leadership across wet- and air-popped popcorn, baked snacks, and related products, guiding development from concept to commercialization.
You will mentor teams, shape innovation pipelines, and collaborate with Marketing, Quality, Engineering, and Operations to deliver differentiated products at scale. A strong background in snack science and leadership is essential.
Qualifications
- 7-10+ years of experience in food R&D.
- Deep technical expertise in snacks and related processes.
- Strong commercialization and pilot-to-plant experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for salty snack product development initiatives.
- Serve as subject matter expert across core salty snack technologies.
- Lead formulation development, process optimization, and commercialization activities.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications, standards, and documentation.
- Drive technical strategy and innovation pipeline development.
- Apply advanced scientific methods to improve product performance and shelf life.
- Support capital projects and manufacturing capability development.
- Influence organizational technical capability and thought leadership.
- Mentor and develop scientists, engineers, and technicians.
