Job summary

Lutheran Services Florida is seeking a Teacher I to lead preschool and early childhood activities within Head Start/Early Head Start. You will plan lessons, assess development, coordinate with parents, and ensure a safe, engaging classroom environment for young learners.

Qualifications include an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Florida training coursework; two years Head Start experience is preferred along with First Aid/CPR certification. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related degree with relevant coursework.
• Completion of required Florida childcare training (DAP 10 hours + 45 hours) within 12 months.
• Two years of Head Start/early childhood teaching experience preferred.
• Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish or other languages common locally).

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement daily lesson plans for preschool/infant-toddler groups.
• Assess and monitor child development and implement education plans.
• Ensure safe classroom environment and supervise meals, restroom, and play areas.
• Communicate with parents via conferences, notes, and calls about progress and events.
• Maintain portfolios with weekly observations; plan field trips; order supplies.
• Conduct health checks, CPR/First Aid as needed, and coordinate with Health Coordinator.
