Job summary

Brooklyn Community Services is seeking a Lead Teacher Pre-School for the Laurie A. Cumbo Children’s Enrichment Center in Brooklyn. The role reports to the Education Director and work location is 180 Myrtle Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

The position is full-time, 37.5 hours weekly, with a typical schedule Monday–Friday, 7:45am–3:45pm. Anticipated start date September 2026. Compensation is based on certification level: bachelor’s with study plan $63,653; certified bachelor $68,735 (plus student

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Early Childhood Education required or equivalent.
• NY State Certification N-6 strongly preferred; if not certified, pursuing MA/Master's.
• Minimum two years’ experience working with preschool/kindergarten-aged children.
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise an assistant teacher and assign daily tasks.
• Plan and execute high-quality preschool learning experiences with guidance.
• Prepare weekly lesson plans aligned with NYS Core and Creative Curriculum.
• Conduct child observations and quarterly assessments; hold parent conferences.
• Collaborate with team to maintain a safe, clean, well-organized classroom.
• Engage families and coordinate with director to support child development.
• Ensure compliance with NYC DOH/DOE regulations at all times.
