Job summary

Wu Yee Children’s Services in San Francisco is seeking a Lead Early Childhood Teacher to plan and implement age‑appropriate curriculum for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers across our 12 centers. You will maintain teacher‑child ratios, document assessments, and collaborate with Center Manager on professional development.

The role requires a valid Child Development Teacher Permit, an AA degree in ECE/CD or related field, 2 years of teaching experience, and vaccination compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid Child Development Teacher Permit required.
• AA degree in ECE/CD or related field with 24 units in ECE/CD.
• Minimum two years teaching experience with young children.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; vaccination required by employer.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
• Maintain appropriate teacher-child ratios with visual supervision.

Lead Teacher Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement age and developmentally appropiate curriculum for children, including daily open-ended activities to expand their competencies across developemntal domains; submit written lesson plans to the Center Manager.
• Maintain appropiate teacher-child ratios, ensuring visual supervision of children at all times.
• Designs and adopts curriculums to expand developmental competencies based on child assessment data and school readiness goals.
• Visual supervision of children at all times, maintaining required teacher: child ratio.
• Maintains a safe and inclusive environment by monitoring daily activities, identifying needs for special family support and services.
• Understand and follow Wu Yee policies and procedures to ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with licensing requirements, Head Start performance standards and California Department of Education regulations.
• Completes timely and accurate documentation of family/child records and portfolios.
• Ensure documentation of all significant contacts with families and maintain up-to-date file recirds including attendance, emergency contact, education data, and file log for your classroom.
• Accurately and promptly complete formal observations, ongoing screening, and assessment of children in your primary care according to the service area timeline.
• Conducts and oversees formal classroom observations and assessments; creates action plans for program improvements.
• Collaborates with the Center Manager on professional development plans for teaching staff.
• Ensures IFSP/IEP goals are supported through integration in lesson plans and classroom routines.
• Conducts parent-teacher conferences, home visits, case conferences, multi-disciplinary meetings and directs resource referrals.
• Ensure meal counts are recorded accurately at the time of service and before submission to the Center Manager.
• Participate in the annual program Self-Assessment, as needed.
• Provide input on school rediness goals, family engagement, and dual-language instructions to inform curriculum development program-wide.
• Models and teaches children to appropriate social skills, health, and hygiene practices, including tooth brushing, toilet training, hand washing, etc.
• Follow established teaching staff health and safety procedures; including sanitazing classroom materials.
• Engage in ongoing professional development activities , as required by the program.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• A valid Child Development Teacher Permit
• AA Degree in ECE/CD or AA Degree in Social Science w/24 ECE/CD units
• 2 years of teaching experience
• Lead Infant Toddler and Lead Toddler positions require 6 infant/toddler units
• Two years of teaching experience with young children
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
• Healthcare/vulnerable client employer, verified COVID vaccination required.

Compensation and Benefits:

• The pay range for this position is$42.58 - $45.94 A new hire generally starts between $42.58 and $43.87. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets, relevant experience, internal equity, and other business and organizational needs.
• Additional $150per pay periodstipend at Kirkwood, and Golden Gate centers.
