Job summary

The Burlington Academy of Learning is seeking a Lead PreKindergarten Teacher to join our Montessori‑inspired team in Burlington, CT. This role requires nurturing, passionate educators who can prepare children for kindergarten through hands-on learning experiences.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years in early childhood education, a degree in ECE or pursuing certification, and Montessori knowledge or experience. CPR/First Aid certification is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in early childhood education.
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education is required, or currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Montessori knowledge or previous Montessori experience is highly encouraged.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with the curriculum.
  • Foster a warm, safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Prepare children for kindergarten through early literacy, math, science, social studies, and SEL through hands-on experiences.
  • Encourage independence, problem-solving, creativity, and self-confidence.
  • Observe, assess, and document each child's developmental progress.
  • Maintain student portfolios and classroom documentation.
  • Build strong partnerships with families through communication and conferences.
  • Collaborate with administrators and fellow teachers to maintain a high-quality program.

Job Summary

The Burlington Academy of Learning is seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, and experienced Lead PreKindergarten Teacher to join our growing team. We are looking for a passionate educator who is committed to preparing children for kindergarten through engaging, hands‑on learning experiences in our Montessori‑inspired environment.

The Lead PreKindergarten Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom where children build confidence, independence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. This individual will work collaboratively with families and fellow educators to ensure every child reaches their fullest potential academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

The ideal candidate is a confident classroom leader who demonstrates professionalism, strong communication skills, creativity, and a genuine passion for early childhood education.

Responsibilities
  • Create and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with our curriculum.
  • Foster a warm, safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Prepare children for kindergarten by teaching early literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social‑emotional learning through hands‑on experiences.
  • Encourage independence, problem‑solving, creativity, and self‑confidence.
  • Observe, assess, and document each child's developmental progress.
  • Maintain student portfolios and classroom documentation.
  • Build strong partnerships with families through consistent communication and conferences.
  • Collaborate with administrators and fellow teachers to maintain a high‑quality educational program.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all Connecticut Office of Early Childhood licensing regulations, health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and family engagement activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model for children, families, and fellow staff members.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience working in an early childhood education setting.
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field required, or currently working toward a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Connecticut teaching certification.
  • Candidates actively pursuing their degree are encouraged to apply.
  • Montessori knowledge or previous Montessori experience is highly encouraged and considered a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Excellent classroom management, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood licensing regulations is preferred.
  • Passion for creating a joyful, engaging, and child‑centered learning environment.
