Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Precast Concrete Inspector II to lead plant quality control for precast and prestressed production and/or perform owner and agency inspections. Responsibilities include verifying prestressing operations and reviewing mix designs and strength records, with the ability to sign off on inspections.

You will supervise Level I inspectors, assign daily coverage, and ensure records meet PCI and DOT requirements for certification and acceptance programs.

Qualifications

• PCI Quality Control Personnel Certification Level II current with 2+ years in a certified precast or prestressed plant.
• Working knowledge of PCI MNL-116/MNL-117 and state DOT precast specifications.
• ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician certification preferred.
• Able to hold a production line to specification when the schedule is pushing.

Responsibilities

• Verify prestressing operations: strand certification, tensioning, elongation, detensioning sequence, and transfer strength.
• Review mix designs, batch tickets, and strength records.
• Accept or reject finished products against the specification and the shop drawings; disposition repairs.
• Maintain plant QC records for PCI plant certification and DOT/owner approval.
• Supervise Level I inspectors; assign daily coverage and review their records.
• On owner/agency assignments, provide outside eye in another plant with well-documented acceptance decisions.
